This Friday-That-Is-Not-Saturday-After-All went fairly well despite that huge disappointment this morning when the alarm went off. Work was reasonably plentiful but not too much, and I've already worked more hours this week than I did in the entire last two-week pay-period, which is encouraging. I've started working on a lovely jigsaw puzzle of a beautiful, calm, garden and that went well when I had an hour to spend this afternoon. Haven't had the time to rip any vinyl this whole week, which is a shame, but I'm sure I'll get some more done eventually.
Only semi-regret is that Billy Bragg's in town tonight; we were thinking of going to see him, but we've seen him before and since Sunday is booked entirely, I didn't want to tie up my weekend quite so much. (Of course, one of the big vinyl ripping tasks has to do with transferring pretty much all of BB's catalogue up until Worker's Paradise to MP3 formats; from that point on, we have all his stuff {except England, Half English, which we've yet to get} on CD. And BB figures rather largely in our own love story, me and Chris - when we first met in person, after "talking" on RockNet for some time, it was ostensibly so that I could give him a tape of the one Jazz Butcher album he'd been unable to replace after it was stolen from his apartment {that would be A Scandal In Bohemia} and in return, he was to give me a copy of a tape that he'd made of a BB show in Montreal some months earlier. The Tapes were Exchanged, and Love Blossomed.) So I'm a bit regretful about missing Billy tonight.
To compensate, the first two episodes of A Bit of Fry & Laurie on DVD, along with some very nice (indeed!) Gran Marnier. 'Cause it is Friday, after all, and not Saturday, yet.

Well, BB is several of many "your songs" for me and Chris, really! Also included would be some Jazz Butcher ("The Devil is My Friend" and "Soul Happy Hour" in particular), and The Waterboys' "Fisherman's Blues." But if we had to choose only one "our song," it would probably be the brilliant duet version of "What a Wonderful World" by Nick Cave and Shane McGowan. Sheer poetry, that! {g}
